Fashion Photoshoot Outcome

Another successful shoot, I can really envision Luxe Undone coming together. Today was an incredibly long shoot, so it is so rewarding to see such brilliant outcomes. The model was a fantastic sport, she remained confident and professional throughout all the outfit changes. I felt bad that the shoes, she said, were uncomfortable, so we made sure we shot quickly when she was wearing them and gave her plenty of breaks in between.

I chose to keep the hair and makeup flawless yet natural so not to distract from the outfits only switching up the hairstyles for a couple of the looks. The poses were inspired by simple fashion catalog poses, the model was shot in positions that would best show off the clothes.

These are the outcomes of the shoots, the lighting is a little dull which will be fixed in post-production, there are also important touch ups that will need to happen before I launch these images online.

Fashion Photoshoot Concept

The second photo shoot, entirely a fashion piece,  for Luxe Undone is about reworking the same item of clothing to create different outfits. Emphasising the money saving aspect, the idea behind the piece is that the audience should not have to spend money on new outfits but learn to rework what they already own to invent new ones. I looked to
http://www.puttingmetogether.com/p/about.html,  a blog that includes some great content about  styling the same clothing in different ways.

The concept of the shoot is reworking the same pair of boyfriend fit jeans with different tops, shoes and accessories to create new outfits. I am collaborating with a stylist to prepare the outfits. I intend to shoot in The Cove as I will be able to achieve full length shots and also be able to work with movement in the large space.

Beauty & Fashion Shoot Outcome

Monday's photo shoot was a great success, I am very pleased with the outcomes. I was nervous to see how the stylist would deliver as I gave him entire creative control over the outfits, giving a simple briefing before hand that the premise of the fashion was 'black on black'. Thankfully, he delivered and I am really impressed with the outfits he put together. He was also considerate enough to take into account the cost effective element of my magazine and ensured all the items were sourced from high-street shops.

The model was incredibly co-operative and a pleasure to work with, she already had a little modelling experience and was confident when posing in front of the camera.

The makeup design transitioned beautifully onto the model, she wore the look really well which is perfect for the beauty pages. Composition and editing wise, I intend to make adjustments to the lighting, a little airbrushing and cropping.

Here are some of the outcomes from the shoot...

ReDesigning Logo

One of the immediate responses I received from the feedback presentation was that the logo could be improved. It was suggested I change the fonts so I discussed re-design options with John and he suggested the combination of two fonts, roboto and scriptana. I downloaded these fonts from dafont.com, they're both free to use fonts.
Testing out these fonts, experimenting with size, composition and colour, I instantly saw  how much more aesthetically pleasing the logo was becoming. I eventually settled on the font below, the word luxe in capitalised in a sans serif font and the word undone positioned at an angle in a cursive font.

Progress Presentation March 21st

I created a formative presentation to present to a panel of lecturers for their feedback. The presentation detailed my progress so far and the future steps I intend to take with the project.

Slides from the presentation

The critique I received was largely based on the design. The content ideas had a positive response, I was told I had made 'relevant choices for my target audience' and there was 'a good blend throughout the topics'.

Improvements to make:
  • Re-design the logo
  • Change the fonts to a sans serif type face
  • Focus on achieving an aesthetic flow

The Progress Of Pages

These are screen shots of some of the pages I have been creating. There are so many possibilities when it comes to layouts and font choices that I regularly experimented. I am still not entirely satisfied with the composition, they do not look like professional pages of a publication. When I compare them to the aesthetic of The Edit, I realise I am far from achieving my goal and I need to re-evaluate the designs. I intend to present these pages at the formative feedback presentation to get the input of the mentors and fellow students.

Beauty & Fashion Shoot

The first photoshoot for Luxe Undone is set to take place on Monday 21st. The concept of the shoot is a recreation of a popular makeup look featured on the A/W 16/17 runway shows of Christian Dior and Rodarte. The beauty page that will include images from this photo shoot will provide information on how to achieve the runway look using more affordable products.

I am also using this shoot to capture full length images of different outfits for a fashion spread. The concept of the styling is 'all black' outfits. I have secured a stylist to source the outfits. The fashion page will demonstrate how the readers can achieve different 'black on black' outfits with clothes from high street stores.

The set up for this photo shoot will be a combination of simple beauty shots and full length shots. I have booked out the Infinity Cove for 4 hours, hopefully this will be plenty of time to photograph three different looks.

These are images of inspiration taken from the 2016/17 AW runway shows for Christian Dior and Rodarte. Both looks display a deep berry lip on a clean, flawless base.

The premise of the shoot was originally inspired by these street style pictures which I shared with the stylist, along with a small pinterest board of images. I intend to use these street style images within the fashion spread, alongside the images I hope to achieve from the shoot.
